Temple City CERT Mission Statement
The Temple City Community Emergency Response Team (Temple City CERT) program will train and educate Temple City residents, students, business members, and visitors in emergency preparedness and basic disaster response techniques, thereby enabling them to prepare and take an active role in providing critical support to emergency services personnel during emergencies/disasters, while increasing Temple City’s overall level of disaster readiness.
Temple City Advanced CERT Team
The City of Temple City developed an Advanced Community Emergency Response Team (Temple City CERT) to help augment City staff during emergencies, disasters, or special events. The goal of the program is to create a core group of community members trained to help support emergency services agencies locally and regionally.
Community members may apply to become a member of the Temple City CERT Team. CERT members must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Successfully completed a Basic CERT class;
- Submit a Temple City CERT Volunteer Application (including a copy of your Basic CERT Certificate);
- Successfully pass a background check; and
- Be sworn in as a Disaster Service Worker Volunteer.
CERT members will be required to follow the Temple City CERT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Code of Conduct. CERT members will be required to attend quarterly meetings and will receive additional training, such as Emergency Operations Center (EOC) functions, Shelter Operations, Traffic Control/Traffic Redirection, etc. Basic refresher training will also be provided during CERT meetings/trainings.
If you are interested in joining Temple City’s CERT Team, have any questions, or would like additional information, please feel free to contact Public Safety Supervisor Bryan Ariizumi at (626) 285-2171 Ext. 4342 or bariizumi@templecity.us.
